Central baseball’s strong start to the Iowa Conference tournament came to an end yesterday at the hands of Buena Vista. The Beavers used a five-run first inning to roll on to a 7 – 2 victory in the winner’s bracket. Sophomore Matt Schissel took the loss on the mound, giving up five runs on nine hits in four-and-two-thirds of an inning. Central’s loss drops them to the loser’s bracket and they’ll face an elimination game with Loras this morning at 10:00 a.m. The winner of that will play Buena Vista, needing to win twice against a tough Beavers team to receive the automatic berth into the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
