The Pella Christian girls’ tennis team earned a forfeit win and a more “normal” victory in regional play on Saturday. The Eagles started the day picking up a forfeit win over Chariton, as the Chargers only had five players show up. Rested and ready for the next round, the Eagles downed a tough Maharishi/Fairfield squad, 5 – 2. Four singles’ matches went Pella Christian’s way, and Andrea Carballo and Haylie Van Maanen teamed up to put the final nail in the coffin with a doubles victory to give the Eagles the win. Pella Christian as a team moves on to the regional finals next Saturday against Keokuk. However, the Eagles have a bit of business to take care of on Thursday, with the individual state tournament qualifier tournament. Pella Christian will host that starting at 9:00 a.m. Full Eagles’ results are below.
