If you’re wondering why there’s digging going on in front of Casey’s on Robinson and Lincoln today, it’s the Knoxville Lions Club Community Pride Avenue of Flags project, and the flag pole holes are being dug, starting around 9. Ladd Montegna says they’ll start at Casey’s and north from there. He says the project will place close to 800 American flags approximately every 20 feet along each side of Highway 14 from the north side of Knoxville, south to Highway 92, and the flags will be displayed five times a year once completed.
