The Knoxville Baseball Squad opened up the 2014 season by splitting a double header to Centerville last night. The Panthers held control through game one and defeated the Big Reds 4-1 on a strong effort by Bryce Zoutte. Game two was a wild affair that saw Knoxville hold control in the third inning plating four runs and taking a 5-2 lead, however Centerville would come back with three runs of its own to tie it up at five in the fifth, and then the two teams went back and forth with Knoxville regaining the lead in its half of the inning and Centerville equalizing in its half. The Big Reds finally ended the game with three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to win 9-8. Ross Shelford took the loss for Knoxville pitching in relief. Knoxville is now 1-1 on the season and will host Winterset tonight.
