At this week’s Knoxville School Board meeting, the Board heard two bids from different masons for repair and replacement of brick at the Middle School. Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack tells KNIA KRLS News that there is quite a bit of work that needs to be done, especially on the north end of the building. He says over the years with freezing and thawing, a lot of the brick face is gone. The concern is that it could affect the structure of the building. He says they’ve received two bids from reputable companies, but the bids are very different; one coming in at over $104,000; the other just over $41,000. Dr. Flack says the board tabled discussion on this, and asked for further review with the lowest bidder to make sure it’s bid on the complete project, and not just a partial project.
