The Pella School Board approved a bid for a new career academies building. Larson and Larson Construction of Des Moines will build the new building for $4.8 million. They heard bids from five contractors this week. The first round of bids in December all came in over budget, and Superintendent Greg Ebeling says they had to rework a few items to reduce expenses. The proposed career academies building will host industrial technology and agriculture classes as well as some college courses from DMACC. Construction will likely start in early June.
