A pair of big Little Hawkeye Conference tests is in front of the Pella High boys’ and girls’ soccer teams today with Norwalk awaiting both squads. The Little Dutch were defeated by the Warriors during the regular season last year, before meeting in the first round of the 2013 Class 2A State Tournament. Pella came away with a 1 – 0 win in that contest before falling in the semifinals to eventual state champion, Cedar Rapids Xavier. This season, Norwalk is ranked number one in Class 2A, and Coach Mark Solomon and his team know that they have quite the opportunity in front of them. After playing Knoxville last Tuesday, Solomon says his team had the advantage of having the rest of the week off. The Lady Dutch recently got back into a conference title hunt with a Grinnell loss last week, and could take another step towards that league championship with a victory over a 4 – 8 Warriors team. Both varsity games are scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
