Technically, they only needed two runs, but they scored 33 just for “fun-sies.” The Twin Cedars’ baseball team blew by both North Tama and GMG in the BCLUW tournament on Monday. In game one with North Tama, the Sabers won 10 – 0. Pitcher Otis Roby threw five perfect innings and struck out ten batters. Garret Pettyjohn, Coy Moore and Collin Still each had two hits. Twin Cedars made the championship game a laugher, beating Garwin 23 – 0 in four. The Sabers scored 16 runs in their half of the first inning. Corey Harrell was 2-for-3 at the dish with a grand slam and six RBI’s. The trio of Trace Embray, Drew Carlson and Brent Parker combined for a no-hitter and struck out a total of nine. The Sabers are 2 – 0 to begin the season, and they’ll play at Pella Christian tonight. You can hear that contest live on 92.1 KRLS and streamed live at KNIAKRLS.com with Cory Houser and Marcus Johnson on the call. Pregame coverage starts at 7:15 p.m. with first pitch at 7:30.
