Pella Christian’s Claire Van Weelden mowed down the competition at the regional girls’ tennis tournament last night to make it to the 2014 state tournament. Van Weelden defeated Jamie Stewart of Oskaloosa in straight sets, 6 – 1, 6 – 1, to win in the championship match. Knoxville’s Taylor Carter and Paige Spowart won the doubles’ bracket. Bri Buzick and Sami Wassenaar finished third in doubles. Full brackets are below. Both Pella Christian and Knoxville advance to the state tennis meet on June 5 and 6.
