Both Pella Christian and Knoxville softball won a one-run contest in yesterday’s Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader. The Panthers got up to a 5 – 0 lead in game one before the Eagles put together a rally and went up 9 – 5 going into the seventh. Knoxville scored three runs, and had the tying run at second before a groundout ended their surge with an Eagles’ victory, 9 – 8. Emily Wallace started game two for the Panthers again, and retired 15 straight Eagles to start the game, and was helped by a home run and RBI double off the bat of Taylor Carter in a 2 – 1 Knoxville victory in the nightcap. Pella Christian had runners on second and third with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn’t push across the tying run. The Eagles are 8 – 6 while the Panthers are 6 – 8, and both teams have a game tonight; Pella Christian plays Class 1A #3, Lynnville-Sully and Knoxville plays Centerville.
