Fresh off a successful stint at Drake University, Ryun Ferrell has been chosen to head the Central men’s and women’s tennis program starting this fall. The former Bulldog was the women’s tennis coach from 1999-2006 and since then, has served as the women’s skipper at Northern Illinois. With Coach Ferrell at the helm, Drake captured the Missouri Valley crown and an NCAA tourney berth back in 2000, and a share of the league title in 2005. While at Northern Illinois, Ferrell was tabbed to rebuild the program, who recorded their most wins in 16 years in the 2012-13 season, with a mark of 14 – 10. Ferrell will be taking over for Steve Tyler, who announced his retirement a few months ago.
