Top-to-bottom, the Iowa Conference once again will be competitive, as it always is, for men’s and women’s cross country this fall. Last year, it was Central’s men that went 1-2-3 in the conference meet to run away with a title. Wartburg finished fourth, and Coach Joe Dunham says the Knights will bring back a talented squad, as will a couple other schools that challenged the Dutch last season. The Dutch did lose a good chunk of letter-winning seniors but have an impressive core returning in the fall to try and lead Central to another Iowa Conference championship. Central finished sixth in the NCAA national meet, their highest in program history.
