The Knoxville Baseball Squad played its fourth extra inning game of the year last night against Dallas Center-Grimes and left with a frustrating 6-5 loss to the Mustangs in nine innings. The Panthers started slowly giving up two runs in the first inning but came back and tied it in the fourth only to see D-C-G retake the lead 4-2 where it would stay until the seventh when the Panthers got two runs to tie the game and had the winning run on third base with one out and could not get it home. The same situation presented itself in the eighth inning as D.J. Snyder belted an R-B-I double to score Bryce Zoutte but with Snyder standing at third, the Panthers again could not deliver the winning run. The Mustangs jumped ahead in the top of the ninth and Knoxville failed to score in its half of the ninth. Coach Joel Johnson told KNIA/KRLS Sports it was frustrating not being able to finish a game. Tony Salato took the loss in relief he was also a force at the plate going 3/5. Knoxville is now 10-8 on the season and 5-5 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, and will host Fairfield tonight.
