The Knoxville baseball squad nearly pulled off a perfect week, but could not quite get the job done in the nightcap of a doubleheader at Oskaloosa on Friday night. Knoxville won the opener 2-0 behind a stellar performance from senior left-hander Bryce Zoutte, as he threw a five hit, complete game shutout. Knoxville plated both runs in the 5th inning on a two run single by Jake Kendall. Ross Shelford started game two for Knoxville on the mound and trailed 1-0 until Jared McClung blasted a three run homer over the left field fence to give Knoxville a 3-1 lead. Osky would come back to take a 5-3 lead late, and a 7th inning rally fell just short for the Panthers as they lost 5-4 in game two. Knoxville now stands at 6-4 overall and two-and-one in the Little Hawkeye Conference with a home game versus Newton on Monday.
