You may have noticed more work going on with the brick pavers at crosswalks, and along the sidewalks in downtown Knoxville. City Manager Harold Stewart says there have been some challenges getting the bricks set, so crews have had to remove and reinstall some of them. He says the ultimate goal is that the bricks are functional and look good, and that they maintain flexibility and are the right height. He says the pavers are on a bed of sand to facilitate that flexibility and also serve as a drainage system. He says the City wants the product installed correctly, and he hopes that as the project progresses, the installation will go smoothly and have less rework to do.
