Rain was a minor factor in Twin Cedars’ home baseball tournament this past Saturday. The Sabers’ pitchers showed their dominance once again with an 7 – 0 win over Colfax-Mingo in the first game of the day. Otis Roby and Garret Pettyjohn combined to no-hit the Tigerhawks. Roby threw six innings and allowed only a walk and had ten strikeouts to get the win. Corey Harrell was 2-for-4 at the plate with a home run and three RBI’s. Pleasantville’s Zeb Adreon threw a complete game shutout in a pitcher’s duel, 1 – 0 win over Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. No hits were allowed by either team’s starting pitcher until the fifth. The Trojans and Sabers met in the championship game and got an inning in, with Twin Cedars ahead 2 – 0, but rain and lightning forced the cancellation of the rest of the affair. The two teams will face a week from Monday in Twin Cedars. Next up on the plate for the 21 – 0 Sabers is a clash with Knoxville on Tuesday and the 15 – 5 Trojans take on Bedford this Monday.
