As KNIA KRLS News recently reported, Valley Bank, with locations in Knoxville and Oskaloosa, was closed by the FDIC, and has been acquired by Great Southern Bank, headquartered in Springfield, Missouri. Kris Conley, Vice President Director of Retail Banking at Great Southern, tells KNIA KRLS News that the only difference they will see is the name on the buildings. Operations and local staff will remain the same. He says all the deposits that were in the bank is still there, and all accounts are still valid. He says eventually checks and debit cards will have the Great Southern name, but for now those with the Valley Bank name are all still valid. Great Southern Bank is already familiar with the area as they take over the branches in Knoxville and Oskaloosa from Valley Bank. Conley says he loves the feel of small towns and the new locations fit well with their current locations, including banks in Monroe and Newton. He says they’ll be able to enhance the products that Valley Bank offered because of the size of their company. We’ll have more with Conley on In-Depth with Dr. Bob Leonard.
