District and regional tournaments begin next week, and for several of our area schools, they are looking to get some final game experience in this weekend. The 19 – 7 PCM softball team will play in their final tournament of the regular season in Durant against Mid-Prairie and Central Dewitt. Pleasantville baseball has quite the road trip today, going to the home of the Waterloo Bucks, Riverfront Stadium, to take on Crestwood. Coach Sheldon Card says with a difficult district tournament looming, games against bigger schools are critical. Twin Cedars will play Albia today, in a final stretch that sees them playing four of their last five games against schools in a higher class than 1A, including a Tuesday match-up with 4A Ottumwa. Coach Matt Miller echoes Coach Card’s sentiments from Pleasantville about their strength of schedule. The Mustangs begin play at 9:00 a.m., the Trojans throw the first pitch at 11:30, while the Sabers play the Blue Demons in the afternoon.
