Bats were silent on the Pella High side of the scoreboard and Dallas Center – Grimes defeated the Little Dutch 5 – 0 in last night’s Class 3A substate final.

Cole Baker was the hurler for the Mustangs, and he brought his best stuff when he needed to, striking out 13 Pella batters and allowing just two walks and a hit-by-pitch in a no-hit effort. Baker’s counterpart, Grant Judkins, matched zeroes through the first four innings before D-C-G found the scoreboard in the fifth. Coach Jesse Jablonski says his team just couldn’t solve Baker. The loss ends Pella High’s season with a record of 26 – 14, and they will lose four seniors off of their varsity squad.
