Nicole Kelderman and Natalie Vos combined to throw a three-hitter, and the Pella Christian softball team’s offense did the rest in a 6 – 1 defeat of Jesup in last night’s Class 2A regional semifinal. The Eagles got out to a 3 – 0 lead, on the strength of some two-out hitting and a lead-off homer in the third by Tessa Howerzyl, her second jack in as many games. The J-Hawks scrapped together a run in the fifth, but that is all they would get, as Vos came in relief of Kelderman and shut the door on Jesup. Pella Christian improves to 16 – 18 overall and they will take on Highland in Washington this Monday night in the Class 2A regional finals, with a trip to Fort Dodge and the state softball tournament on the line.
