The National Weather Service reports that the hottest temperatures of the summer will build into the state today and tomorrow with highs rising well into the 90s across central Iowa both days. The hottest day of the two looks to be Tuesday when heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees over central to southern Iowa can be expected. Northern Iowa will see triple digits heat index readings both Monday and Tuesday afternoon. A Heat Advisory is in effect until 7PM Tuesday. Chances of thunderstorms are forecast Tuesday late afternoon into the evening hours with a low potential for severe weather. Cooler weather is in store for Wednesday through the rest of the week. Additional thunderstorm chances are forecast by Friday into Saturday.
