The Knoxville Baseball Squad paid the price for anemic bats to start its first round Class three-A District opener with Keokuk last night and lost 4-3. The Panthers only had three base runners in the first four innings and one hit. After getting down 4-0, Knoxville finally got on the board with an R-B-I single by Tony Salato then got another run later on in the inning to make it 4-2. Another run would come across courtesy of Ross Shelford in the sixth inning. Knoxville had the winning run at third base in the seventh inning but a fly out to end the game also ended Knoxville’s season. A frustrated Coach Joel Johnson said the guys did not make enough adjustments at the plate. Bryce Zoutte took the loss going 3 1/3 innings. Knoxville finishes up 19-14 on the season and will only lose two seniors Zoutte and Shelford.
