As just a sophomore, Sara Tallman excelled on the field for the Pella High softball team. For her efforts, she was named to the Class 4A All-State Team for 2014. Tallman was selected to the second team with some eye-opening stats as a tenth-grader. The Lady Dutch centerfielder batted .489 for the year, with a slugging percentage of .609. She struck out just eight times in 92 at-bats and went 29-for-31 in stolen bases. Tallman also committed just one error in the outfield and carried a fielding percentage of .975. She helped carry the team to the district semifinals, where Pella fell to Oskaloosa, 5 – 2.
