Pella Baseball Splits with Newton

Six runs in the first two innings was enough for Pella High baseball to cruise to a 9 – 3 win over Newton in game one of their doubleheader. Marcus Wittmer had three hits and two RBI’s, while Adam Carey pitched five innings to get the win. The Cardinals’ Tyler Wood threw a one-hit shutout to down Pella in game two, 2 – 0. Jordan Meyer for the Little Dutch made his first ever varsity start, allowing two unearned runs in five-and-a-third. Wittmer had Pella’s lone hit in the nightcap. Pella is now 19 – 12 on the year and they host PCM tonight. You can hear that game live on 92.1 KRLS and online at with Cory Houser and Marcus Johnson on the play-by-play.
