Stepping out of the Pride of Iowa Conference for a moment, the Pleasantville baseball team dropped a tough one to Chariton yesterday, 10 – 9. Coach Sheldon Card tells KNIA/KRLS Sports his team had a rough first couple of innings, as starting pitcher Jesse Nichols lasted just an inning-and-a-third, giving up eight runs on the rubber. Patrick Sheehey doubled and tripled, Zeb Adreon and Josh Luna each had two knocks, and Riley Krichau and Brock Busick had three in the losing effort for the Trojans. Pleasantville softball played a make-up conference game with Bedford and took them down 4 – 1. Bailey Oliva was the winning pitcher, allowing just three hits and giving up the one run. Traci Kunze drove in two in the victory, as the Trojans’ girls improve to 12 – 15, while the boys are 17 – 6. Both teams are at home to take on the Roadrunners of I-35 tonight.
