The home plate at Murray’s baseball field probably needs to be dug out of the dirt before their next game. Twin Cedars combined for 31 runs in a doubleheader sweep with the Mustangs on Thursday night. Game one went the Sabers’ way, 11 – 1. Trace Embray got the win in relief of Corey Harrell who started the game, but could not record an out. The freshman didn’t allow a hit and walked two while striking out 11. Hunter Embray was 1-for-2 with a home run and four RBI’s, and Coy Moore and Otis Roby each had two hits. Coach Matt Miller says his team hit well in game two, but the defense was sub-par in a 20 – 9 nightcap victory. On the softball diamond, Murray blanked the Sabers, 5 – 0. Twin Cedars did pick up six hits, but scattered them and couldn’t string them together. Saber baseball improves to 25 – 0 and the girls fall to 12 – 11. Saber softball plays Monday while the boys are off until Saturday to take on Albia.
