A game for the ages. That is what it will be known as at least until Tuesday. The Twin Cedars’ baseball team was down to their final out in the bottom of the seventh, tied at one with Pleasantville in the Class 1A district final, when Coy Moore came up and unloaded on a 2 – 0 pitch and promptly sent it over the left field wall, and sent his Sabers to the substate final on Tuesday night. Neither squad was able to break through against tough starting pitching until the sixth. The Trojans used a two-out RBI triple from Riley Krichau to take the board first. The Sabers would respond with a lead-off triple off the bat of Garret Pettyjohn in the bottom half, who would score on an error. Twin Cedars continues their fantastic season with a mark of 32 – 0, while the loss ends Pleasantville’s campaign with a record of 25 – 8. The Trojans lose just two seniors off of their varsity squad. The Sabers will play this Tuesday in Oskaloosa, a game away from the state tournament, against North Mahaska, which is a rematch from last year’s substate final.
