In a rematch from last year’s substate final at Pella Christian, Twin Cedars and North Mahaska do battle on the baseball diamond tonight in the Class 1A Substate 6 final in Oskaloosa, trying to be one of eight teams to make it to the state tournament. The Sabers bested the Warhawks in last year’s meet-up, 5 – 2, and each squad had much different paths to get to this point. Twin Cedars is undefeated, but had to use a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh on Saturday to get by Pleasantville, while North Mahaska had a much easier time with Pekin, beating them 5 – 0. You can hear tonight’s big game live on AM 1320 and FM 95.3 KNIA and with Cory Houser and Marcus Johnson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage starts at 6:45 p.m. with first pitch at seven.
