Grant Judkins and Austin Titman both went yard and Pella High baseball beat down Saydel last night, 8 – 3, in the Class 3A District 14 final. After scoring a run in the first and second innings, the Little Dutch put up a five-spot in inning three, thanks to a home run, and back-to-back RBI singles from Ethan Butler and Tanner Wood with two outs. Coach Jesse Jablonski says his team has been working a lot on firing first in the postseason. Wood was also the starting pitcher and ran into some troubles in the fifth, before Titman relieved him and shut down the Eagles the rest of the way, striking out seven in two-and-two-thirds. Pella High improves to 26 – 13 on the season, and they will take on conference foe, Dallas Center-Grimes tomorrow night in the Class 3A substate final, for a spot in the Class 3A state baseball tournament.
