The cool summer has been great for many outdoor activities, with one big exception.
Many swimming pools and aquatic centers in Iowa have reported very low attendance this summer. Mallary Herring with the Pella Aquatic center says that’s the case in Pella as well. She says the pool doesn’t typically open with temperatures below 70 degrees or rain, and business in June was particularly slow. Herring says the cooler weather hasn’t stopped many from attending swimming lessons and the swim team this season. The outdoor pool will close for the season after Saturday, August 16th.
