Graduating this past May, all-conference linebacker, Mike Young has signed on to help the Central football team this fall. Young will help coach the defensive line after being a three-year letterwinner for Central during his time in Pella. The Dutch alum was selected to the first-team all-Iowa Conference in 2013, and had a memorable moment against Buena Vista, returning a blocked field goal 85 yards to the house for a touchdown to clinch a 23 – 13 victory in mid-October. Young also was on “Team Stars and Stripes,” which is a Division III all-star team that plays against the Mexican collegiate team in the Bowl of the Stars down in Monterrey, Mexico. An interesting note, with Mike Young aboard, Coach Jeff McMartin and his 11 assistants are all Central alumni.
