The Knoxville Police Department says the number of incidents during this year’s Knoxville Nationals are very similar to last year’s statistics.

Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada says it’s not just visitors during Nationals who are causing problems.

“It’s not that we’re having all these people come to town causing problems,” Losada told KNIA/KRLS News. “It’s also the locals taking advantage of the situation or going a little out of control themselves.”

Statistics show of the 29 arrests made during the 10-day period of Nationals, 18 were from Marion County. Overall, calls for service were down slightly, continuing a four-year trend. Accidents and citations saw a slight increase compared to 2013.
