Even with a young team in front of them, the Pella High softball team accomplished much in 2014. One goal that many squads hope happens by the end of the regular season is that they start playing their best ball come playoff time. The Lady Dutch started the year 2 – 17, but found their stride with a convincing doubleheader sweep of Grinnell and went on to win nine of their last 13 games. Coach Krista DeMeulenaere says her ladies saved the best for the last game of the year against Oskaloosa in the Class 4A regional semifinals. Pella finished the softball season with a mark of 11 – 21.
