Missouri River Energy Services is holding a special groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday for the Hydroelectric Dam Project.

United States Assistant Secretary of the Army Jo-Ellen Darcy, Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds, and U.S. Congressman Dave Loebsack will speak at the ceremony. Representatives from Pella and Marion County are expected to be on hand as well. The North Tailwater area will be closed for the project until 2018. Once the project is completed, it will provide up to 55 Megawatts of electricity during peak seasons and serve Missouri River Energy Services’ member communities in four states, including Pella. Since the Lake Red Rock Dam is a secure and active construction site, the event is invitation-only.
