Donny Schatz led 49 of the 50 laps to win his eighth Knoxville Nationals in nine years Saturday night. Schatz dominated the first half of the race leading by as much as a straightaway before the fuel stop at the halfway point. After the stop Schatz continued to lead but Brian Brown made things interesting when he passed Schatz lap 44 but Schatz told KNIA/KRLS he just gathered his emotions and retook the lead a lap later. Brown for the third straight year finished second to Schatz. Brown told KNIA/KRLS Sports he thought he had Schatz but then he came back even stronger. Brown says one day he will get Schatz. Kerry Madsen completed the podium and became the highest finishing Australia native in Knoxville Nationals history.
