It’s a tough pill to swallow when you have to tell yourself as a coach and sometimes your athletes that you’re going to lose some games. Sure, everyone wants to go out and pound out a bunch of hits, throw a shutout and sweep the season and leave the goose egg in the loss column. The reality of the situation for Pella Christian softball in 2014 was the fact that they were going to go out and compete, win or lose. Coach Karen Harrill says all she wanted her girls to do is go out and play up to their individual expectations. Harrill adds that the girls showed their youth throughout the season. She explains that the girls would be on a roller coaster as far as playing up to their potential all year long, and it even happened during the regional final with Highland. The Eagles’ skipper does say that their experience in a big game like that will do wonders for the 2015 campaign next summer.
