The yards were 479 – 112 in favor of Pella. Knoxville won the turnover battle 2 – 0. Seventeen accepted penalties. Not to mention the extra drama of a rivalry game which all added up to a 28 – 0 shut-out win for the Little Dutch over the Panthers last night, in a game that was heard on both FM 95.3 and AM 1320 KNIA and 92.1 KRLS. A slow start by Pella’s offense and a boatload of laundry on the field for both teams led to a scoreless first quarter, before the Dutch finished the half with touchdown drives of 99 and 80 yards to give them some momentum heading into the locker room. Knoxville’s defense came to play, and stifled Pella for the most part, save for some big plays that led to scores. Pella High coach, Jay McKinstrey, says it was tough to get anything going early on last night. Quinton Murphy had seven carries for 106 yards and a touchdown, Noah Clayberg ran for 169 and two, while Connor Bailey for the Panthers led his team with 44 yards on the ground. Pella is now 5 – 0 on the year with a 3 – 0 district mark. The Panthers drop to 1 – 4 on the season and an 0 – 2 record in Class 3A District 7. Pella is at Carlisle next Friday night while Knoxville comes home to take on Saydel.
