After the first set, the Pella High volleyball team didn’t make it a contest, as they soundly swept Grinnell last night in conference action. Pella took game one 25 – 19, before finishing off the Tigers 25 – 8 and 25 – 10. Head coach Catie Brand tells KNIA/KRLS Sports her girls played smarter last night both offensively and defensively, and she was very impressed by their all-around effort. Makenna Bogaard had 13 kills, Jessica Holterhaus added eight, and Kiki Pingel had a whopping 30 assists. Coach Brand says her team will basically have the same approach with each conference game this season, just based on who is back for each team in 2014. The Lady Dutch are now 4 – 12 on the season and 1 – 1 in league play. They’ll head to Ballard this Saturday for another tournament in Huxley.
