The big local football rivalry known as “Pella vs. Knoxville” hasn’t been much of a rivalry as of late. The Little Dutch have won the last eight contests, 11 of the last 13, and 25 of the previous 27 meet-ups. In that time frame, the average score has been 31 – 9 in favor of the Little Dutch. Tonight may be no different, as the two bitter rivals collide in the Tulip City. Pella has put the hurt on their opponents this season on their way to a number two ranking in the state of Iowa in Class 3A. The Panthers have been led by running backs Tanner Dunkin and Connor Bailey, the former of which had three rushes for touchdowns, including a 72-yard sprint last week in a loss to Carlisle. Noah Clayberg has been as dangerous of a passer as he has been running the football, with seven touchdown passes and a near 75% completion percentage. Tonight’s game will be aired live on 92.1 KRLS and streamed live at KNIAKRLS.com with Cory Houser and Randy Sikkema on the Pella call. Tony Correa and Ryan Rump have the call for the Panthers on AM 1320 and FM 95.3 KNIA. Pregame coverage starts at 7:00 p.m. with kick-off at 7:30.
