In the first of many meet-ups across various different sporting venues, Pella High hosts Pella Christian volleyball in the former’s gym tonight. Each team is coming off of successful tournament weekends; the Lady Dutch won the consolation bracket at Ballard, going 3 – 2, while the Eagles ran the gamut and went 5 – 0 en route to winning the North Mahaska Tourney in dominant fashion. Pella High coach, Catie Brand, says her team’s defense has been good, but there are still holes they are looking to plug on the court during practice. One pleasant surprise for the Eagles is the way Hannah Beltman is performing, and Coach Cindy Nikkel says they are trying to get her more reps in and away from games. JV matches begin at 5:30 p.m. tonight with first serve of the varsity contest at 7:15.
