Despite five total turnovers, the Pella Christian football team’s offense did enough in the first half to drive them to a 43 – 28 victory over Highland yesterday, as heard on 92.1 KRLS. After the Eagles coughed up the ball on the opening kick-off, the Huskies took just three plays to take the lead, but it was all Pella Christian after that. The Eagles scored 26 unanswered before closing the first half with two touchdowns and a huge 40 – 14 lead. The Huskies scored 21 of their 28 points directly off of Pella Christian turnovers. The Eagles gained 496 yards of total offense, led by 119 receiving yards from Levi Jungling. Coach Darryl DeRuiter says the Eagles’ defense helped out the offense immensely last night. The Eagles improve to 4 – 2 overall, and 2 – 1 in district play. Thanks to a Sigourney-Keota loss, the Eagles are alone in second place, and will try to continue their playoff push with a home game against Columbus Junction next Friday night.
