Preparing for their first home playoff game in quite some time, Pella Christian’s football team had a bit of a premonition when it came to looking ahead to their first round contest on Wednesday. The Eagles are paired up with Central Decatur, who had a successful regular season, finishing 6 – 3 overall, and 4 – 2 in a tough district. The Cardinals ended the regular season punching out Van Meter on Friday, 32 – 14. This is the first year the state has done the “non-bracketed” playoff format, and Coach Rich Kacmarynski says he’s a fan. The last two seasons, Pella Christian has been in the unenviable position of going all the way out west to face St. Albert Council Bluffs, but new restrictions, and the fact the Eagles came in second place in their district, assured them they wouldn’t be travelling anywhere outside of 125 miles away from Pella. The Eagles – Cardinals match-up will be live on 92.1 KRLS this Wednesday night with pregame starting at 6:30 p.m. and kick-off at seven.
