It was as close as a four-set match could have been. Pella High’s volleyball team was defeated by Indianola last night, 28 – 26, 25 – 22, 20 – 25, and 26 – 24 in the semifinals of the Class 4A regional tournament. The Lady Dutch had opportunities in set one to close it out, but the Indians stormed back and won two games before Pella took control of game three to stay alive. Indianola survived despite 14 service errors as opposed to just eight for the gals in green. Coach Catie Brand says the way her team played may have surprised some people watching. Unofficially, Makenna Bogaard had 14 kills, Jessica Holterhaus had ten, and Bogaard added two aces for Pella, who finishes with a record of 19 – 20, and they lose just two seniors from their varsity squad.
