Pella played near perfect and swept Knoxville in the first round of the class four-A volleyball regional last night 25/18, 25/16, and 25/11. The Lady Dutch took advantage of numerous Knoxville errors to get sizable leads in all three sets. Pella Coach Catie Brand told KNIA/KRLS Sports her team kept a lot of rallies going eventually taking advantage of the Panther errors. Makenna Bogaard lead Pella with 16 kills, Kiki Pingel gave out 22 assists, Jenna Murphy had 13 digs and Jessica Holterhaus came up with four blocks. Conversely Knoxville Coach Chantell Downing told KNIA/KRLS Sports along with the unforced errors, she thought her team did not hit at the net as well as they have all season. Knoxville was led by Cheyenne Jones and Ashley Hawkshead with seven kills each and Meredith Cunningham has 15 assists and 16 digs. Knoxville finishes 16-21 on the season while Pella is now 19-19 with a trip to Indianola to face the host Indians on Thursday in the regional semi-finals.
