It took just three swift sets for the Pella High volleyball team to take care of Newton in conference play yesterday in their regular season home finale. The match started with the singing of the National Anthem by Pella first graders and the senior night presentations, which seemed to pump up the Lady Dutch, as the squashed the Cardinals in game one, 25 – 4. Coach Catie Brand says her girls used that momentum to play a phenomenal first set. Pella then won the last two by scores of 25 – 13 and 25 – 18. Makenna Bogaard and Jessica Holterhaus each stroked 11 kills, and Bogaard added nine aces to highlight an impressive night. Pella improves to 3 – 2 in the conference and 17 – 19 overall. They will wrap up their regular season with a road match against Oskaloosa on next Tuesday.
