The Knoxville Girls Basketball squad won a hard fought season opener over P-C-M last night 54-47. The Panthers led for most of the game building a lead as big as ten points in the fourth quarter only to see the Mustangs tie the game with a little under five minutes remaining. However, Meredith Cunningham hit back-to-back threes and the Panthers defense got stops when needed to pull away in the final minutes. Panthers Coach Jim Uitermarkt told KNIA/KRLS Sports while not perfect he will take a win like that. Cunningham lead Knoxville with 21 points, Carrie Chambers had 12 points all in the first half. Knoxville beings one-and-oh and will have a few days off before taking on Albia on December second.
