For the first six minutes both Melcher-Dallas and Fremont-Mills looked like two heavy weight fighters trading punches as both offenses were stymied by the defenses.That all changed when the Knights ripped off a 64 yard touchdown pass to get the scoring going and before Melcher-Dallas could stem the tide…the Knights had built a 39-0 halftime lead and eventually pulled away to a 51-14 win over the Saints in the second round of the Eight-man playoffs heard live on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA. The Saints were keeping Fremont-Mills’ running back Spencer Phillips in check until late in the first half when he scored on a three yard run to blow the game open. The Saints were unable to get anything going on offense until the fourth quarter when Alex Mitchell scored from 11 yards out, then connected with Chase Wetterling on a 30 yard pass to cap the scoring. Melcher-Dallas finishes the season at 8-3 and lose 12 seniors from this season’s team.
