The six days of anticipation and waiting are over, and tonight, arguably the top two teams in the state in Class 3A football, Pella High and Sioux City Heelan, do battle inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls for a state championship. The Little Dutch will pit their almost unstoppable speed and brick-wall defense up against a balanced and physical Crusaders squad. Coach Jay McKinstrey feels that his “D” has a lot of work to do tonight. The Crusaders swarm to the ball on defense; they have 22 interceptions and 12 fumble recoveries, which is an average of nearly three takeaways per game. Coach McKinstrey says the quickness of Sioux City’s defense is a big part of their success. We are once again jam-packed full of coverage of tonight’s Class 3A title game. The KNIA/KRLS Sports crew will once again be live inside of the Li’l Big Red Radio outside of the UNI-Dome for the Jeromy Dingeman Concrete Football Friday Night Radio Preview Show, which starts at 5:00 p.m. on KNIA and KRLS and goes until around 6:35. The Midtown Tire Team pre-game show is at 6:36 with kick-off scheduled for 7:06. Cory Houser and Randy Sikkema have the play-by-play on 92.1 KRLS and KNIAKRLS.com.
