On the preseason watch list, Central kicker Kevin Sheldon is now one of 29 in all of college football that could still win the Fred Mitchell Award. Sheldon is still in consideration not just for his work on the field, but off the field, too. He is 4-for-8 in field goal attempts this season, and has only missed three extra points in 134 attempts for his career. Sheldon has helped raise money for people in need in Haiti by volunteering with a color run fundraiser and has helped teens in trouble through The Landing organization. He also helps to coach high school kickers at the Midwest Kicking Camp. The Dutch senior is one of only five Division III kickers on the list, and the only one from the Iowa Conference. Finalists for the award will be announced later this month, with the winner to be chosen in December.
