Central’s women’s basketball team shot nearly 46% from the field, the defense thrived in the first half, and the Dutch beat Webster in St. Louis yesterday, 79 – 60. The Gorloks scored only 21 in the first 20 minutes, and Central got out to an 18-point halftime lead. Central got 45 points from their bench, including 18 apiece from Rachel Evans and Kaitlin Stump. Mariah Swartzentruber led all Central starters with 15. The Dutch are now 7 – 2. The men’s shooting woes continued against Webster, as they dropped their second straight, 70 – 65. Central shot just 32% from the field for the game. Colby Taylor dropped in a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Central’s men are now 6 – 3 on the season. Both Central basketball teams are off until after Christmas.
